    Responsibilities

    • Manage a team of geographically diverse DBAs, supporting multiple database technologies
    • Manage a mix of long-term projects and short-term service requests with a high degree
      of flexibility and effective delegation
    • Develop intimate knowledge of our enterprise systems’ underlying data structures
    • Support creating migration processes including data cleansing, data quality, source to target mapping
    • Participate in ETL development using SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS)
    • Work with stakeholders to understand requirements and their impact to underlying data
    • Create and run ad hoc SQL queries; provide organized, formatted query results to business users
    • Contribute to the company’s overall reporting and analytics vision and direction
    • Lead engineering and architecture activities related to database performance optimization
    • Managing backup and recovery solutions database or object level, data replication for
      disaster recovery & business continuity
    • Develop and publish processes, procedures and operations (SOPs) documentation
    • Create a roadmap for database environments across multiple DBMS technologies which includes capacity planning, patching and license compliance
    • Interact with and coach developers in developing SQL scripts, schema changes, data updates and with database performance considerations
    • Lead root cause analysis efforts for database related incidents
    • Provide 24x7 support for critical production systems
    • Stay abreast of new database technologies and relevant Cloud service offerings

    Qualifications

     

    Required Technical Experience

    • 5+ years of data migration experience driving data quality, data cleansing, data architectures and ETL
    • Minimum 7 years of hands-on SQL Server DBA experience including the installation, configuration, monitoring and support of SQL Server 2014/2016/2017
    • Experience with SQL Server replication and log shipping technologies
    • Hands-on knowledge of install/configure/monitor/support SSIS/SSRS/SSAS components
    • Experience building and maintaining reporting/data warehouse solutions
    • Expert-level knowledge of structured query language (SQL) and T-SQL
    • Experience working with source code control utilities such as GitHub and Bitbucket
    • Experience writing PowerShell scripts
    • Familiarity with issues surrounding the use of SQL Server, and other database technologies, in cloud environments (AWS, Azure)
    • Excellent knowledge of security issues surrounding database operations, including familiarity with database hardening processes and standards
    • Working knowledge of Active Directory and how SQL Server interacts with Active Directory
    • Strong working knowledge of Windows Server
    • Proficient in SSMS

    Required Management/Non-Technical Skills

    • Minimum 2 years of experience managing/leading a technical team
    • Strong planning and organizing skills to manage workload for self and others
    • Excellent communications skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to communicate across all levels of the organization
    • Ability to function professionally under pressure with a strong sense of urgency, while
      managing multiple concurrent projects
    • Very strong customer service focus with the ability to set and manage expectations
    • Ability and desire to take ownership over initiatives that may go beyond direct areas of responsibility
    • Ability to influence positive behavior in coworkers
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
    • Ability to learn new systems quickly
    • Bachelor’s Degree in a technology related discipline; Equivalent combination of education, experience and/or applicable military experience will be considered

    Bonus Experience

    • Experience with SQL Server AlwaysOn clustering
    • SQL Server MCSA/MCSE certifications
    • Project management experience
    • Understanding of Dev Ops and Continuous Integration/Deployment in the cloud (e.g. Red Gate ReadyRoll/SQL Change Automation, Octopus, Jenkins, …)
    • Experience with IDERA SQL Diagnostic Manager
    • Experience with Cloud database solutions such as Amazon Aurora, RDS, Redshift, DocumentDB, DynamoDB, etc.
    • Experience with dashboard tools such as Tableau
    • Familiar with other RDBMS technologies, such as Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL
    • Data warehouse design using star-schema and/or snowflake methodologies
